The Painted Zebra

ddmundorff

The conundrum that creative people face throughout life is that they are always compelled to question and rethink the norm in order to discover new perspectives on everything.

And, while doing this, they essentially irritate or frighten non creative people who crave certainty in their world view.

Understand that this is not an irritation from the art works themselves, typically, but an irritation with the artists inherent need for uncertainty in order to envision new futures.

Being different from the herd eliminates the herd camouflage that protects one from the dangers of human existence.

When a lion walks by a bunch of zebras, it only sees a big striped mass. Paint a yellow patch on one of the Zebras and the Lions can identify the outlier and kill and eat it fairly quickly.

These painted Zebras are Artists.
